If you lived on the side of the Moon that faces away from Earth; you wouldn't know of the existence of Earth unless you had a mode of transportation. You would probably migrate around until you discovered the Earth. Wouldn't you like to live on the side that showed such a wonderful view of the Earth...

a year at Saturn

http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap051231.html

Dione seems so lonely and insignificant against the Saturnine background; and the ring under Dione appears to underline this small moon, even though Dione is 1118 km across. This is a very stark though beautiful view.

What about antimatter; Would matter and antimatter attract? Maybe we are going toward and wouldn't see A universe made of antimatter because anti light couldn't be seen. What is left over when antimatter and matter collide? Total annihilation I know but There has to be something. I think I'll pass o...

SkyWatcher wrote; Yes, but Apollo 8 was not on the Moon but moving around the Moon. So the point of view was changing and they could actually see Earth rise and set. Hi SkyWatcher! Good observation; and I realize that. I was referring to an Earthrise from the Moon; which would have the Earth pretty ...

If the same side of Luna always faces the Earth; wouldn't the Earth always be in about the same area of sky as viewed from the Moon??? Then there wouldn't really be an Earth rise.

I really don't know; but don't you think that the closer that Andromeda and the Milky way came together that the speed toward each other would become greater being that the gravitational pull would become greater. I think I'll have that cold one.

Hi ColoradoSky! You found a good link also. 300,000 kph seems awful fast. Makes one wonder just how fast we really are moving. What with moving toward Andromeda and toward the Great Attractor and toward who knows where with the expansion of space and all. And yet we feel no sense of motion at all. H...

IC 2118: The Witch Head Nebula

http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap051227.html
I don't see a witch head; but it does remind me of clouds in our own atomosphere. Actually most nebuli remind me of clouds right here on earth.

Ahh!! Earth; the most beautiful planet in the solar system. Home Sweet Home. Someplace on some star may be an equal; but we'll probably never see it.

Hydrogen and dust in Rosette Nebula

http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap051223.html
Is this in natural color? I imagine that is why it is called Rosette. Looks pretty violent and stormy. Yet this makes for an Awesome sight.

I would Imagine that the important thing is that the rings are very thin in respect to the size of Saturn. Being composed of so many moon lets it is amazing that they all stay within such a narrow band around the planet.

M83 The Southern pinwheel Galaxy From VLT

http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap051218.html
I noticed the greater population of stars seem to be away from the core of the galaxy. Is this the case or are the stars within the center camouflaged due to the abundant light in the core? Comments please!!!

Looking at Traylor's map; it doesn't look like the population of galaxies get any thinner; I would assume the it continues on and on.

[File not found] Sorry but I took that link from APOD site. Anyway it showed 3 year progression of light echos which would have been enough to explain six light year cross section.
