Mario, I think that is a corona rather than a glory. Glories are opposite the light source (which is usually the sun), and coronas are around the light source. See here: http://www.atoptics.co.uk/droplets/gloab.htm and here: http://www.atoptics.co.uk/droplets/cormoon.htm

It's a lovely image, regardless of what it is!

Tamas, you beat me to it! :ssmile:

All of the images posted are really fine; thank you, all!

The "Mira watches Mira" picture was very sweet. Personally, I much appreciate the color balance here. Note the neutral color of Mira, which is only somewhat yellowish at maximum brightness. Note, on the other hand, the very blue color of the Pleiades.

I much appreciate the color of the lunar corona. That is exactly what it looks like, I'd say. The brightest part closest to the Moon is blue-white, abd there is a dull reddish border surrounding it.

(And hey, I just hit 869 posts! That's me on the right here: http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/image/0510/do ... is_big.jpg)

Hey, Rob, that's not so bad. You still look heroic to me.

I just had to comment ... I absolutely love the Mira - Mira shot. Impossible not to love this ... especially if you have a young daughter who has at one time or another peered through the eyepiece of your scope.

I like the van den Bergh 16 picture, because this part of the sky is not often photographed. Van den Bergh 16 is the small blue patch at the bottom right of the image. The brighter orangish patch above it is a star forming region, or so I think. The star inside vdB 16 is an F0V star, a bit but not much hotter and brighter than the Sun.
