Meteor Shower, August 31, 2007

Post by FieryIce » Fri Aug 24, 2007 1:23 pm

The meteor shower "peak is expected at 11:33 UT, or 4:33 a.m. PDT, give or take 20 minutes."

"If you live in the western parts of the USA, Canada and Mexico, including Hawaii and Alaska, you might spot an Aurigid meteor."

Can you Night Sky Watchers verify this anticipated date and event?

I managed to photograph one of the Aurigid meteors this morning. Here is a small version of the photograph. I observed 4 meteors between the hours of 4:30am PDT to 5:00am PDT. It's so exciting knowing I'm one of the first to ever photograph this! I'm sure there are better than mine, but I'm all atwitter over it! Whooo hoooo!!! Taken from Belfair, WA.
