Smile a blackhole has no actual hole. It was named by scientists who thought it was actually a vortex. Sorry, I thought that was just assumed. When I said "the hole" I was using "scientific slang" to refer to all elements of the object...singularity, event horizon, ect. I will b...

Personally, I think a lot of it is devised to create an argument in order for Americans to continue using the absurd amount of energy that they do..... Agreed...the US political-economic climate right now leans toward the supply-siders; conservation of any sort simply equates to "less sales.&q...

Alternative fuels and conservation are being suppressed . Limitless petroleum supplies that are "hidden from us" are in reality, just not proven. You can't suppress something that hasn't been discovered. If your hypothesis is correct (notice I didn't use the word "theory") the oi...

Well, if we did find oil on the moon, we'd return much sooner than you'd expect.

The administration would declare the moon a terrorist state and we'd invade it.

I think this point has come up before...but isn't it interesting that "true" color is defined as "that small part of the EM spectrum to which human eyes are sensitive." Perhaps there is something “tactile” about knowing what objects would look like through our own eyes. Maybe the...

We haven't left our own magnetosphere, and you guys are talking about inter-stellar and even inter-galactic travel as if you were planning a trip to Hawaii. Everything great has to begin with a discussion or else no one knows where to go. A trip to Mars...let alone Jupiter...wouldn't be great? :P :...

We know that to get the galaxies to where they are today means that they had to exceed the speed of light many times over for a time. We do? :? Re: Expanding Universe

Expanding Universe is a false statement. The dating and distant calculation is under question. If the Universe is "All" how can it expand within itself. Parts of the Universe may expand from themsleves in the overal process of recycling and this does not mean the universe is expanding. Ou...

Wow, I bought my first ever Night Sky magazine (Nov/Dec), still have not read a single article. Have to get past salivating at the telescopes. I have that problem too. Been thinking seriously about getting a new 'scope by next summer or so. I have been leaning toward an 8" or a 9.25" Schm...

Response to the above: In my opinion most stable stars are ejected from a large active black hole normally located in the centre of a galaxy and in many cases cluster of stars are ejected giving them a time stamp on their origin.
I can't make heads or tails of this statement.
